This workshop is perfect for beginners starting their photography journey who haven’t yet explored advanced camera modes.

In four hours I will show the key settings of your camera and its more advanced modes. Learn how to shoot beautiful portraits, freeze action and capture beautiful landscapes.

We start by going over the basic functions of your camera and the main controls that create good exposures. After a lunch break we’ll wrap things up with some final tips and tricks, and a short photo walk to practice the concepts you learned in the class.

Some of the topics covered include

  • How to shoot action shots by controlling the shutter speed

  • Take better portraits and landscapes by controlling areas of focus

  • Take better photos in low-light situations

  • Tips on printing, camera and lens upgrades, and sharing your photos online

  • The basics of good composition to create more engaging images

There's a maximum of 10 participants per workshop, offering plenty of personal attention.

FAQs

  • This is a beginner workshop. If you are just getting started in photography and have been using the most basic settings on your camera this workshop is for you. This workshop will show you the key features of your camera so you can take better portraits, action shots, landscape images and more.

    The workshop is in-person and takes place at the Central Park Business Centre.

    Included are:

    • A 4-hour workshop. We’ll go on a 30 minute lunch break at noon (lunch not included).

    • Handouts of the key topics covered in the workshop.

    • A maximum of 10 participants per workshops guarantees personal attention.

  • • You’ll need a digital camera. It can be a DSLR or a mirrorless model. Your camera must have the shutter and aperture priority modes. These controls usually appear on a dial or can sometimes be accessed through the LCD screen.

    "Point and shoot" cameras are not recommended since they lack most of the features covered.

    • A charged battery and a memory card with empty space.

    • Your camera manual will come in handy. Digital PDF versions are easily found online and you can store them on your phone for easy access.

    Please be on time (early is better). I’m unable to restart the class once we begin.

  • Do you offer group discounts?

    Yes! Just email me before you purchase your tickets and I'll apply a 7% discount to your total when buying 3 or more.

    Can I transfer my ticket if I can't make it?

    Sure, as long as it's used for the exact same date and event. Just let me know 24 hours before the start of the workshop so I know whom to expect.

    Cancellation / Refunds

    All fees are refunded in full in the event the workshop is canceled for reasons including but not limited to: not enough participants have registered, instructor illness, bad weather, or any other unforeseen circumstances which may make the operation of the workshop inadvisable. In case of cancellation, you may use your ticket on a future date or get a full refund.

    I provide a full refund for cancellations up to 10 days before the workshop.

    Cancellations less than 10 days before the workshop will be refunded minus 30% of the workshop fee. This allows me to cover the costs incurred to present the workshop to those attending. Remember you can transfer your spot if you’re unable to attend.

    No refunds are offered for no-shows to the workshop.

    I reserve the right to alter the itinerary when deemed necessary or advisable. We will let you know of any changes in advance.

    Participants are responsible for any expenses or damages incurred as a consequence of joining the workshop.
